Tells Us About Your Business:

I started mom blogging 8 years ago. Today MomAngeles is one of the most recognized LA city sites for moms. Out of that blog grew MomAngeles Media, a digital content and influencer marketing company. We implement influencer campaigns, connecting brands with influencers and other content companies in the parenting space. Our full-service studio produces branded and original content. We have several web series and scripted series in development.

Founder's Journey:

I’ve been in marketing for more than twenty years. I started in PR and then moved into marketing and business development. I produced corporate events, awards dinners, networking events and conferences with a focus on audience development and sponsorship sales. Then I took a career pivot and went to work for a digital design agency, that created websites and custom software for cultural institutions, hotels and product companies. I fell in love with digital media and have been hooked ever since. Marketing is about storytelling, but blogging has allowed me to be more creative and free form in my writing. My company MomAngeles Media, affords me the opportunity to create storytelling experiences for clients in a more authentic and organic way while collaborating with established content creators and platforms.

What are the 3 biggest tips you would give women (could be business owners or business professionals?

  1. Tip 1 – Never give up. No matter how many times you hear “no” if you think it’s the right thing, pursue it.
  2. Tip 2 – Surround yourself with people with diverse skills, skills you don’t possess.
  3. Tip 3 – Create a Tribe. Seek out fellow female entrepreneurs and build friendships. These friends will understand your unique challenges and will see you through.

Founder Trait I was Born With: tenacity

Fav Female: There’s too many to list here. I love Geena Davis for bringing attention to the fact that Hollywood doesn’t tell enough stories with women in the foreground. What kids watch impresses upon them the future they see for themselves. Her efforts have forced Hollywood execs to take a look at the lens through which children are watching their programming and make changes in their casting and hiring process.

I love ABC / Disney for this same reason.

I love Ava Duverny for championing black women film makers, directors, producers and storytellers.

I love Michelle Obama for setting the bar high for how we should conduct ourselves as mothers, professionals and humanitarians.

Tell us something few people know: I live for chocolate. I have two Pugs and a Frenchie. My favorite thing to do is to sit on the couch with my dogs and write…. while eating chocolate. I’m super outgoing so people often find it funny that I’m a homebody and love to be alone at home writing.
